Description
The Barón de Ley Club Privado is a modern Rioja that was originally developed exclusively for the members of Barón de Ley's Club Privado. They wanted a wine that was more accessible and fruitier than a classic Crianza, but still retained the recognizable Rioja character. The result is a so-called semi-Crianza: an elegant Tempranillo with a shorter barrel aging, which beautifully preserves the ripe fruit. This vegan wine is wonderfully smooth and versatile at the table.
Cherries, Strawberries, Cedarwood, and Vanilla
The wine has a clear ruby red color and an inviting aroma of ripe cherries, juicy strawberries, and red forest fruit. The relatively short aging in oak barrels creates refined aromas of cedarwood, vanilla, and a hint of spices. On the palate, the wine is soft, round, and fruity, with smooth tannins and a fresh, elegant finish that invites another sip.
Short Barrel Aging for a Fruity Rioja
The wine is made from 100% Tempranillo, from Barón de Ley's own vineyards in Rioja. After traditional fermentation, the wine ages briefly in oak barrels. This limited barrel aging provides subtle woody notes without overpowering the fruity character. This results in a modern Rioja that is immediately accessible and offers great drinking pleasure.
Perfect with Meat Dishes and Mild Cheeses
Barón de Ley Club Privado is a versatile companion to grilled meat, hamburgers, pasta with tomato sauce, tapas, roasted chicken, and barbecue dishes. Its fruity and soft character also comes into its own excellently with mild and semi-hard cheeses.
Barón de Ley
Barón de Ley was founded in 1985 and is now one of Rioja's most renowned wineries. The winery owns hundreds of hectares of its own vineyards around a former Benedictine monastery. Thanks to complete control over the vineyards and modern winemaking techniques, Barón de Ley produces wines that combine tradition with a contemporary style and an excellent price-quality ratio.
Why choose Barón de Ley Club Privado?
This Rioja is ideal for lovers of soft, fruity red wines with a subtle woody influence. The combination of juicy cherries, strawberries, vanilla, and cedarwood creates an accessible wine that is excellent both with a weekday meal and during a cozy drink. Thanks to the short barrel aging, the fruit remains beautifully central, while the wine still retains the character of a true Rioja.
