Italian wine
Italy is one of the largest wine producers in the world. With 850,000 hectares of vineyards, Italy produces 49 million hectoliters of wine per year. The mountains in Italy determine the landscape: The Alps in the northwest and the Dolomites in the northeast. The country therefore has a divided climate.
Wine is produced in every part of Italy. The country is divided into 20 different wine regions, which in turn can also be divided into smaller regions. Most wine comes from the regions: Sicily, Apulia, Veneto, Emilia Romagna.
Hundreds of grape varieties are grown in Italy. The sangiovese is one of the best known. From which, for example, the Chianti is made.
