  • €19,09

Deep dark red wine with aromas of black cherries, plums, blueberries and also hazelnut, dark chocolate and toast. Firm tannins, but in the taste lots of fruit, herbs and a long finish.

The vineyards are located along the extensive coastline near Santa Barbara. While it is intensely hot here during the day, it cools considerably at night. The soil is diverse and includes gravelly clay, loam and limestone.

The grapes undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The blend is then aged for approximately 12 months in American oak barrels, of which 18.5% is new oak.

Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon (89%), Petite Sirah (9%), Cabernet
franc (1%), petit verdot (1%)

Alcohol: 14%

Origin: United States, California

Content: 0.75L

Tip: A favourite with pasta dishes, grilled portobello, beef tenderloin or with spicy, hard cheeses.

Winery J. Lohr:

Jerry Lohr and his team are true wine pioneers in California. For two generations, they have been leaders in the Central Coast. When Jerry settled there in the late 1960s, the area had not yet enjoyed a fraction of its current status as one of North America's premier wine regions. So it was a big gamble for the South Dakota farmer's son to plant a vineyard in such an undeveloped area. But his courageous decision has paid off handsomely over the years. With his courage, vision and agricultural experience, Jerry Lohr has played a major role in the development of the California wine industry. And rightly so, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines has become one of the region's most respected wineries and now encompasses nearly 600 acres of cool-climate vineyards in Monterey planted with Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Noir. In Paso Robles, Lohr grows Bordeaux and Rhône grapes on another 1,200 acres.
