Beautiful golden yellow looking wine with intense aromas of citrus, lemongrass with smoke and stony notes. The taste is fresh, yet expressive with an acidic tension and rich structure. The finish is characterized by a very tasty mineral note and a remarkable intensity of aromas.

This great Riesling comes from one of the best wineries in Alsace in our opinion. Gustave Lorentz pays attention to the highest quality. The grapes are picked by hand, no yeast is added to this wine to start the fermentation process. Everything pure nature.

If you are once in Alsace, try to visit Gustave Lorentz in Bergheim. Beautifully situated you will find a modern winery with people who love the profession. The Lorentz family has been making beautiful wines for generations. With a fresh clear pure style.

The remarkable thing about the Kanzlerberg is the soil. This consists of clay and limestone, but also of gray and black muschelkalk. This is an alternation of limestone, marl and evaporite layers, which is very rare in the Alsace region. In combination with the fairly steep slope, on the south and southwest, this Kanzlerberg creates a unique taste.

This enjoyable and concentrated wine goes well with fish dishes and especially with raw fish, such as sushi.

Origin: France, Alsace. The vineyard for this Grand Cru is located on the south and southwest facing slope of the Kanzlerberg. The grapes grow on a heavy soil, which is unique in this region.

VINIFICATION: The grapes are harvested late and are therefore very concentrated. The high sugar content of the must ensures a harmonically complex and powerfully structured end result.

GRAPES: Riesling (100%)

ALCOHOL PERCENTAGE: 13.5%

Winery Gustave Lorentz was founded in 1836, but the wine history of the Lorentz family goes back to the mid-17th century.

Jean-Georges Lorentz, blacksmith and winegrower, was the first family member to settle in Bergheim in 1748 in the heart of Alsace. “One family, one village and seven generations of winegrowers” is today the slogan of winery Gustave Lorentz. Georges Lorentz has been in charge since 1995 and the eighth generation - his three daughters - is getting ready to join the company as well. Gustave Lorentz owns a total of 33 hectares of vineyards on the hillsides around Bergheim.

Of the 33 hectares, just under half are classified as Grand Cru. Since taking office, Georges has implemented quite a few modern insights. In addition to quality, the focus is also on balance, purity, personality and drinkability. Sustainability is of crucial importance to Georges.

Since 2012, all own vineyards have been certified organic by EcoCert.
