    • Description

The Tenuta Sant'Antonio Amarone Campo dei Gigli 2018 is the absolute flagship of Tenuta Sant'Antonio and belongs to the most prestigious Amarones from Valpolicella. The grapes come from the historic Campo dei Gigli vineyard, where the calcareous soil and low yields ensure grapes with exceptional concentration. After traditional appassimento and long aging in oak, a powerful, complex Amarone with impressive aging potential is created.

Ripe dark fruit, spices, licorice, tobacco and chocolate

This Amarone has a deep ruby red color with light garnet hues. The nose reveals intense aromas of ripe black cherries, blackberries, and forest fruits, followed by notes of licorice, black pepper, tobacco, cocoa, spices, and subtle woody influences. The taste is powerful and concentrated with silky tannins, a full body, and an exceptionally long, elegant finish in which fruit, spices, and minerality beautifully combine.

Traditional appassimento and three years of oak aging

The grapes are hand-picked and then dried for about three months using the traditional appassimento method. This causes the grapes to lose moisture and significantly increases their flavor concentration. After a long fermentation, the wine then matures for three years in oak barrels and another twelve months in the bottle. This results in an Amarone with enormous depth, structure, and excellent aging potential.

Perfect with game, grilled red meat, and aged cheeses

This powerful Amarone pairs excellently with game dishes, grilled beef, stews, lamb, dishes with rich sauces, and old hard cheeses. Its complex character also comes into its own as a meditation wine after dinner.
